Question 1

What is sidething?

Accepted Answer

The AI accelerator for side projects. You get a roadmap built for your specific business, the playbooks to execute each step, an AI that knows what you're making, and a small group of founders at your stage who keep you accountable. It's an accelerator in the sense that matters, structure and accountability aimed at revenue, without equity, a co-founder, or quitting your job. Built for people with demanding careers building something on the side.

Question 2

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Sign up and start. You have a short conversation with sidekick about what you're making, and it generates your roadmap from that, usually inside a minute. No courses, no setup wizards, no application. If you already use an AI assistant, you can import what it knows about your project so the roadmap starts from something real rather than from guesses.

Question 3

Do I need to apply, or can I just join?

Accepted Answer

Just join. Signup is open and /apply is retired. There is still a step where we place you into a small group of founders in your timezone and at a similar stage, because that match is what makes accountability and feedback useful instead of a generic feed, but it happens after you are in rather than as a gate in front of you.

Question 4

Do I need a business idea to join?

Accepted Answer

Not required. Many join idea-curious and discover opportunities through the community. That said, you'll move faster once you commit to something specific. The framework itself helps crystallize fuzzy concepts into executable plans - we've seen "I want passive income" transform into "B2B automation consultancy" within weeks.

Question 5

How much time do I need to commit?

Accepted Answer

One hour daily ideal, but flexible. Everything's async. Consistency beats intensity.

Question 6

What if I've already started building?

Accepted Answer

Perfect. We turn scattered efforts into systematic growth. Most builders are busy without strategy - we fix that.

Question 7

Do I need technical skills?

Accepted Answer

Zero coding needed. No-code is thriving and we'll teach you everything. Start with Carrd for landing pages, Gumroad for payments. Our curriculum covers the entire no-code stack from beginner to advanced. Many seven-figure businesses run entirely on Lovable or Webflow. The technical barrier is a myth - execution is what matters.

Question 8

Is this available globally?

Accepted Answer

Worldwide. Squads matched by timezone for practical weekly syncs.

Question 9

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

No contracts, cancel whenever.

Question 10

Do you take equity?

Accepted Answer

No equity, no revenue share. We make money when you stay and grow, not by taking a piece of your business.

Question 11

Who's in the sidething community?

Accepted Answer

Developers, designers, marketers, consultants worldwide. Ages 22-65. Beginners to serial exits. The common thread isn't skill level - it's ambition to build something meaningful alongside their career. You'll recognize your people immediately.

Question 12

How does the accountability system work?

Accepted Answer

Weekly check-ins where you reflect on progress, rate your momentum, and plan ahead. Track streaks and XP to stay motivated. Founder tier members also join Inner Circle pods - small groups of 3-5 builders at your stage for deeper accountability. The peer pressure is gentle but relentless - exactly what high performers need.

Question 13

How do Inner Circle pods work?

Accepted Answer

Founder tier members join small groups of 3-5 builders at similar stages. We match based on timezone, complementary skills, and goals. You get group messaging, shared accountability, and deeper connections. Chemistry typically forms within two weeks. Rematch available if needed.

Question 14

What happens if I outgrow sidething?

Accepted Answer

That's success. Alumni become mentors, angels, sometimes acquire other members' businesses. Network compounds over time.

Question 15

Is my business idea safe?

Accepted Answer

You choose what you share. Nothing from your roadmap, your board or your connected tools is visible to other members unless you post it yourself. Most people end up sharing more than they planned to, because feedback is the reason the group is worth being in, but that is your call to make and not a condition of joining. If you are asking about the data rather than the idea, see the answer on connected tools under technical and account.

Question 16

What's expected of me?

Accepted Answer

Show up and do the work. We make it easy but you drive. Check the app regularly, follow notifications, complete your missions. If you're in an inner circle, stay engaged. Everything's async, sessions are optional. We guide, you execute. The only real expectation is keep coming back and shipping.

Question 17

What's the Roadmap System?

Accepted Answer

AI-generated, personalized to your business type (we support 29 categories from SaaS to local services). sidekick analyses your situation and creates a roadmap with milestones and tasks to help you reach your next milestone. Uses a 6-phase AI pipeline to curate, prioritize, and organize everything. Adapts to your stage - whether you're validating an idea or scaling to £1k MRR.

Question 18

What are Weekly Missions?

Accepted Answer

Bite-sized tasks that drive real progress. Not busywork - actual shipping. Complete them to earn XP and maintain your streak. Weekly check-ins keep you accountable and help you reflect on momentum.

Question 19

Do you provide tools and templates?

Accepted Answer

Full stack: Notion templates, pricing calculators, email swipes, contracts. Battle-tested resources worth thousands.

Question 20

How is this different from a course?

Accepted Answer

Courses sell content. We drive execution. Weekly accountability from real humans beats 50 hours of videos.

Question 21

Why not just use ChatGPT for business advice?

Accepted Answer

ChatGPT is brilliant for ideation - we use it constantly. But here's what I've learned building companies: the gap between knowing and doing is where businesses die. ChatGPT can write you a perfect GTM strategy in 30 seconds. It won't check if you actually talked to customers. It won't introduce you to someone who's already cracked distribution in your niche. It won't call you out when you're overthinking instead of shipping. We solve for execution velocity, peer accountability, and pattern matching from real builders. ChatGPT gives you the map - we make sure you actually walk the territory. Use both: AI for leverage, sidething for momentum.

Question 22

How quickly will I see revenue?

Accepted Answer

Typically: first customer 4-8 weeks, first payment 2-3 months, £1k MRR within 6-12 months. But here's the nuance - B2B often monetizes week one (consultancy, done-for-you services), while products need longer runways. The key isn't speed, it's maintaining shipping velocity while you find product-market fit. Revenue is a lagging indicator of value creation.

Question 23

What if my idea fails?

Accepted Answer

Most builders try 2-3 ideas before winning. Failure provides data. We help you pivot fast and apply lessons learned. The meta-skill you're building is entrepreneurial intuition - that transfers to everything. I've never met a successful founder who nailed it first attempt. The winners just iterate faster than the quitters quit.

Question 24

B2B or B2C?

Accepted Answer

Build what excites you. B2B monetizes easier (businesses have budgets). B2C can scale faster. Choose based on your expertise and network.

Question 25

How do I balance with full-time work?

Accepted Answer

System designed for professionals with jobs. Async work, batched tasks, weekend sprints. 30 focused minutes daily beats sporadic marathons. The secret? Treat it like going to the gym - non-negotiable, scheduled, habitual. Your employer doesn't need to know, and honestly shouldn't until you're at 70% salary replacement.

Question 26

When should I quit my job?

Accepted Answer

When side income consistently exceeds expenses plus 6-month buffer. Usually £5-10k MRR. Plan the transition strategically, not emotionally.

Question 27

What industries work best?

Accepted Answer

SaaS, mobile apps, freelancing, tutoring, consulting, e-commerce, and content creation are obvious winners. We also support affiliate sites, newsletters, and local services. Any business that needs execution rigor works. Some businesses just need an Instagram page and consistency. You don't need sidething for those. This is for side hustles that require strategy, accountability, and systematic growth.

Question 28

Can I access on mobile and desktop?

Accepted Answer

Full sync across devices. Mobile for quick updates, desktop for deep work.

Question 29

What if I need support?

Accepted Answer

Community channels for quick help. Office hours for deep dives. 1:1 mentor sessions for specific challenges. Real humans, fast responses.

Question 30

What happens to the data from my connected tools?

Accepted Answer

Every connection is read-only, so sidething reads your Stripe and never creates a charge, reads your Gmail and never sends an email. Your credentials are encrypted under a key held outside the database. We keep structured signals rather than raw message bodies: from Stripe it is eight numbers, from Gmail and Calendar it is who you are talking to and when plus subject lines, never the contents. Meeting transcripts are read once and dropped rather than stored. Personal connectors like Gmail stay private to the person who connected them even inside a team, and you can disconnect and delete at any time. We do not train models on your data, show it to another member, or sell it.

Question 31

Can the sidething team read my business data?

Accepted Answer

One person can reach the workspace you type into, and it is written down what he does and does not look at. Encrypting the rest of it at rest is work that is underway and not finished, and we would rather say that plainly than imply it is already done. The privacy policy and the data processing addendum have the full detail, including every provider we use and what each one handles.
